Our most famous wreck is KNM Kjell at 40 meter. "Kjell" is a "must see" for every diver. The wreck was discovered in 2006, and has extremely nice details from World War II.

If you are lucky, the water is crystal clear, and nice photos can be taken, like this one taken by one of the best under water photographer in Norway, Christian Skauge.

Our local guide will take you down to visit this old lady.

In the Easter holiday of 2007, a group of divers were staying at Tregde, and they wanted to share their nice pictures from their tour. Another group came to Mandal with the Diving bus, which shows the good opportunities the water outside Tregde can offer.

The two most famous wrecks are KNM Kjell and Savonmaa. KNM Kjell is a "must see" wreck in Norway. One of the best wrecks from World War II. Read it's history under.

KNM Kjell is an attractive diving objective with a starting point from Tregde. KNM Kjell was built in 1912 as a  torpedo boat. The ship kept its name until the German invation in Norway in April 1940. April 9th 1940 KNM Kjell was to be repaired in Kristiansand when it was confiscated by the Germans. The Germans fulfilled the reparation and putted the torpedo boat back in service under a German flag April 19th 1940. The ship was renamed to NK02 / Dragoner.
September 28th 1944 NK02 / Dragoner was on its way to Kristiansand when six British Mosquito planes from Banff Strike Wing" discovered the ship outside Mandal. After a short and intens battle, NK 02 / Dragoner sank together with seven men from the German crew. You can still see helmets, and personal effects in this wreck.

Savonmaa
The wreck after the Finish steam ship Savonmaa lays near Kneblingene, between Mandal and Søgne. It lays at the line between the monument and the lantern at Ballastskjærene at the passage between mountain and sand. About 40 meter from land. January 20 1937, the Finish steam ship Savonmaa was at a journey from Finland to Manchester in England when she was surprised by a storm along the Norwegian coast. Omboard wa captain Bäckmann and a crew of 25 men, and a cargo of paper and tumbstones. Little is known about the accident, but the first sign of problems came from the ship that night when SOS signs were heard at Flekkerøy. You can read more here!
